The Amerance Vetting Standard

What we verify before introducing any agent — and what we don't. No ambiguity, no fine print.

Every agent goes through all four checks before you see their profile. If any check fails, the agent is not introduced. No exceptions.

The four pre-introduction checks

These run in sequence. All four must pass. The agency sees the profile only after all four are complete.

1

State license verification

✓ Before introduction
Source
NIPR (National Insurance Producer Registry) — the authoritative real-time database used by all state DOIs
What we confirm
Active license status in every state the agent claims, and the license type (Health, Life & Health, etc.)
When
Within 48 hours of the agent entering our pipeline, and again before introduction
Result if it fails
Agent is not introduced. They are informed and told to reapply once their license is reinstated
2

AHIP certification (Medicare agents)

✓ Before introduction
What it covers
America's Health Insurance Plans annual Medicare certification — required for agents selling Medicare Advantage and Part D plans
What we confirm
Current plan year certification only. Prior-year AHIP does not count — we confirm the agent is certified for the year they will be selling
ACA and life agents
AHIP is not required. ACA agents must have current FFM (Federally Facilitated Marketplace) certification, which we verify instead
Result if it fails
Agent is held from Medicare introductions until AHIP is completed and confirmed. May be introduced for non-Medicare lines if otherwise qualified
3

Release / contracting availability

✓ Before introduction
What we check
Whether the agent is free to contract with new carriers — no existing upline contract that would block them from contracting with your agency
How
Agent self-discloses release status and we confirm through direct conversation. Agents attest to having no outstanding contract obligations that would prevent independent contracting
Limitation
We rely on agent attestation for contract terms — we do not have access to every carrier's or upline's contracting records to independently verify
Result if it fails
Agent is not introduced. If a release issue is discovered after introduction, the 30-Day Vetting Guarantee applies
4

Human phone screen

✓ Before introduction
Format
A direct phone conversation with every agent — not an automated questionnaire or form
What we cover
Current sales activity, availability, what they're looking for in an agency, work model preference, any gap in activity, and intent to start quickly
What we're screening for
Active agents genuinely looking to move — not passive résumé uploaders, not agents still under contract elsewhere who are "just exploring"
Result if it fails
Agent is not introduced, or is held until their situation changes. Ambivalent or unavailable agents are not sent to agencies

What information agencies receive

We share information in two stages — before and after you confirm interest in a specific agent.

Information When shared Notes
License status Before interest Active/inactive, states, license type
AHIP / FFM certification Before interest Current plan year confirmed or not applicable
Release status Before interest Free to contract confirmed
Licensed states Before interest All states where agent holds an active license
Product lines Before interest Medicare MA, Medigap, ACA, life, final expense, etc.
Work preference Before interest Remote, field, hybrid; full-time or part-time
Availability / start timing Before interest Whether agent can start immediately or has a transition period
Full name After you confirm interest Shared once agency confirms they want to engage
NPN (National Producer Number) After you confirm interest For carrier contracting and independent verification
Direct contact info After you confirm interest Phone and email for direct agency outreach

Agent contact information is never shared with third parties. It is not sold or disclosed to any party other than the agency we are matching them with.

What we don't verify — and why it matters

Transparency about our limitations is part of our standard. Here's what falls outside our verification scope:

Past production volume

Agents self-report prior production numbers and carrier experience. We do not independently verify revenue, policies sold, or carrier performance data. You should conduct your own assessment of production fit during your interview.

Background checks and credit history

We do not run criminal background checks or credit checks. If your agency requires these, you'll need to conduct them directly before contracting. We can tell you upfront which agents have disclosed prior issues.

Future performance and retention

We verify credentials and availability — we do not guarantee that an agent will produce, remain with your agency, or meet any specific production threshold. Those outcomes depend on your training, compensation, and management, not on our vetting.

Carrier-specific appointment history

We confirm the agent is free to contract but do not have access to every carrier's appointment records. It is possible (though uncommon) for a carrier-level conflict to surface after introduction that was not disclosed by the agent. The 30-day guarantee covers this scenario.

The 30-Day Vetting Guarantee

If a credential status we confirmed turns out to be inaccurate — a license we verified as active that was actually lapsed, or a release status that was misrepresented — we source a qualified replacement at no additional charge.

The guarantee covers vetting accuracy. It does not cover production outcomes, fit decisions, or an agent choosing to leave your agency.

Common questions about our vetting

What does Amerance verify before introducing an agent?

Four things: active state license (NIPR), current-year AHIP or FFM certification, release status confirming free-to-contract, and a human phone screen. All four are completed before any agency sees the profile.

When does the vetting happen?

Before introduction — not after. You never receive a profile and then discover it failed verification. If an agent does not clear all four checks, they are not sent to you.

Can I see the agent's NPN to verify myself?

Yes — after you confirm interest in a specific agent, we share their full name and NPN. You can independently verify their license on NIPR at no cost. We encourage it.

What happens if an agent's credentials change after introduction?

If a license lapses or a contracting conflict is discovered within 30 days of introduction, and it is due to information we confirmed inaccurately, the vetting guarantee applies. We source a replacement at no additional charge.

Do you share agent information with other agencies?

No. Agent profiles are matched to specific agencies based on fit. We do not circulate the same profile across multiple agencies simultaneously without the agent's knowledge and consent.
